I still have the same problematic behavior with a Kodak EasyShare Z730
on 12.04. There is the -60 error message dialog, and two instances of
the "Choose what application to launch" dialog. Shotwell is still able

Those services were deleted by ltsp-build-client in the previous versions, but
if you installed acpid after ltsp-build-client, it was there.
Now they're deleted on client boot, from
/usr/share/ltsp/init-ltsp.d/50-rm-system-services.
To keep some of those services, you put them in lts.conf, e.g.:
There is FileBase.getTempDirURL() which is better to use than hardcoded
"/tmp" path.

Confirmed with xchat-gnome in 12.04. The unity launcher and switcher
both fail to show xchat-gnome.
A possible workaround: Open the dash, find xchat and drag the icon into
the launcher while xchat is running. This appears to have solved the
problem for me.
