Hy,
I generated a custom kernel with make-kpkg command with containing the
Debian report committed patch.
The test now not I doed yet my netbook, but my laptop top showing
following good values:

The Canon EOS has a different issue on why it does not retrieve thumbnails,
while adding EOS fast directory I broke the thumbnail preview getting.
patch for EOS:
Eric, press the this bug affects me button at the top. I think it's a
similar cause, so that would make someone look into the code.
(Seriously, this is a really easy bug to fix, but you need to know the
code base. Which I don't know, and I have no idea where to start. So..
