Well, what I meant was: the code that you're touching is in the dnsmasq-
base package, and dnsmasq-base is installed on *all* Ubuntu systems, as
a dependency of network-manager. It seems that the worst-case regression
potential is that we break DNS on all Ubuntu systems, which would be bad

Yes, virtualbox starts and works fine. I've just spent several hours
in it, doing various Windows XP installs and configurations ...
virtualbox worked flawlessly.
I am also running virtualbox on a 12.04 x64 system, non-super user.
I have not submitted any bug report to Oracle/virtualbox -- just
I just hit this on a fresh Linux Mint 13/MATE install. Patrick's
explanation of how to get out of the infinite loop of dpkg --configure
-a calls was very helpful. Having a manual workaround is nice, but
you're going to get a lot of stuck newbies with this - hope you can
release the fix soon.
