You can enable/disable hardware acceleration by going to any video that
let's you go full screen. Once in full screen while video is playing,
right click and you should be able to enable/disable hardware
acceleration.

program. Typing xmlcopyeditor does nothing; no error is shown so the
command is recognised.

Adding to my earlier commment even the terminal is a no-go. If you give
an existing .xml file the program opens very very briefly then
disappears. If you give it a non-existent .xml file it opens, then when
you try to open a existing xml file from its menu then the same

Changing IM status from messaging menu does
Joseph: Ignore that last comment. The system seemed stable for nearly
5 days, as noted, but at 1:30PM after I returned from lunch and started
working again, the messages occurred and the system crashed. I was
forced to power cycle it to restore a working state.

seconds according to dmesg before this started again :(

Mark, thanks for the suggestion, will look into that. I was under the
impression that pam_sss in /etc/pam.d/common-session was needed for
access control as provided by SSSD, but I was wrong, apparently.
