Confirming.
When I log in for the first time, regular patterns are displayed before the
desktop is displayed. If I log in again after a restart, I briefly get a
corrupted screen with fragments of applications of the previous session. Using
Ubuntu 12.10 with nvidia-current.

* check if ubiquity is doing the correct requests / caching of the geodata /
timezones
* check if geonames-lookup is giving us the correct stemmed search results.

I believe the string shown is external to ubiquity and maybe it comes
from debian-installer.
Certainly changing it to a more generic "Checking install media" would
be better.
