Thr attached script is a work around (tested on 12.04LTS) put into /etc/init.d
as mm_monitor and execute
$ sudo uptate-rc.d mm_monitor defaults
The script run as a daemon ensuring that nmcli nm wwan on is called
whenever modem manager adds a device. Beside solving the bug as
described it also
madbiologist: It does work but it's merely a workaround, not a fix for

I'm sorry to add to the buzz on this bug.
I did a new clean install on 12.10 and tried the gui preferred way with
no luck.
But with some workarounds as mentioned in this bug every thing worked.

Then at work when I updated the system things borked

Mine is stuck at level 2 and never drops, which is a waste of power
since my desktop lives in flatland.
I hear tales of it getting a bit juddery at level 0, but it would be

I had the same issue when I was trying to install Crossover. I resolved
this by changing the download server to main server within Software
Sources (it was set to UK), I then ran synaptic and installed all the
upgradeable packages (of which there were many but my system claimed it
was up to date

I run in this problem, when I have an open ssh connectioan and my laptop
goes in standby. Later I resume my OS and the ssh connection in guake
don't answer, so i close the tab and get this bug report!
