I have a similar issue, but in my case simply plugging in a headset
steals the mouse so I'm unable to switch between windows using mouse
or do anything else. Keyboard continues to work though.

Thanks for your time. Turning on Unredirect Fullscreen Windows didn't
fix the issue .
I think it's compiz issue because it works in gnome classic ( no effects
) , gnome-shell and fluxbox and didn't works in Unity and gnome classic
( compiz )

One additional piece of information. If I print to a printer instead of
cups in Ubuntu 12.10, I get the blank pages from the printer with just
the time stamp on the bottom, the same as if I print to cups, so it is
more than jsut a cups issue.

When running under a gnome-shell session, the cairo-dock unity
integration (unity-bridge) is still running. This seems kinda pointless

Have the exact same problem as you do. Don't count on the Ubuntu people
to fix anything. Rather, expect them to try to assrape you (#1048393) or
