I recently download edubuntu 12.04.1 LTS from http://www.edubuntu-

My PC is a simple desktop with an old AMD Duron 1400MHz on ASUS A7N8X-X and 1GB
I can confirm the above. Document search works occasionally in the
activities overview (I cannot reproduce the conditions), but it doesn't

Since bug 1049214 was marked as a dupe of this one, I'll continue the
discussion here.
The problem I was describing was not merely the usage of XSync, but the
way in which we use the synchronous parts of the X11 protocol.
Especially with moving windows you have a call to sendConfigureNotify
Can I reopen bug 1049214 ?
Overuse of the synchronous functions in any case is bad, we shouldn't
keep it closed for that reason.

In raring, when I type 'add-apt-repository' it tells me that can come
from either python-software-properties (where it used to come from) or
software-properties-common. But it only comes with software-properties-
common. sudo apt-get install python-software-properties does
I have since reverted to my Ubuntu 3.2.0-34-generic-pae as the wireless
internet connection works will with this release. I found it very
interesting that the brightness control is now functioning in this
version. It must be some left over files from 3.3.7 that are still left
behind?

Bah, sorry, I got this bug confused with a different one. So yes, the
bug is the same and no new bug is needed. The statement about not
knowing how to configure the hardware is still correct however;
specifically, we have incomplete information about how to program the
PHY.
