When I first launch update-pciids it hangs just after sudo password validation.
There are no progress bar to know if download is just slow or if it hangs

After I put in the symlink for initctl into /bin path above and could log in, I
ran into an issue where I was having odd errors like not authorized in the disk
tool, and Network settings within UI were inaccessible, etc This is beyond the
other weird issues with the path stuff from above... I f

Running Ubuntu Precise 12.04 LTS w/ 3.2.0-52-generic kernel. Unable to install
an older and much needed printer for a client because the generic
PCI-to-Parellel card is not usuable. Information about the card available below:

I agree with both Rudiger and David. This is a huge loss of
functionality and a step backwards. I had grown quite accustomed to
frequently controlling my app indicators for Pithos, Caffeine, and
Transmission from HUD.

Ok, I may have a workaround (not sure yet of any side effects or what
else could be broken...)
Since we did the symlink to /bin/init, this is what .Xsession looks like as we
know:
init: unity-gtk-module main process (3055) terminated with status 127
init: logrotate pre-start process (3053) termi
I figured out how to get around this "error". Copy grubx64.efi and past
it as fallback.efi
Tested on my Windows 8 laptop. Works perfect with absolutely no errors
shown on the screen.
