I too have a Realtek ALC888 with an Nvidia GeForce 610 GT that has HDMI
audio controller though I don't use it, Alsa and PulseAudio seem to think I
want to even though it's not hooked up. Pulse audio keeps turning it on even
though I turn it off in the profile.

Since I reported this, a friend suggested that I try logging out and back in to
see if that changes anything. That does seem to make the stylus start working
again when I do that, in case that changes anything. I'll add this workaround
to the bug summary.

Since, by default, packages from PPAs are not reported, yes, an apport hook is
required for a bug/crash to be reported.
