I've had the same issue. For me helped just:
1. sudo apt-get remove --purge plymouth-theme-ubuntu-text
2. sudo apt-get install plymouth-theme-ubuntu-text
because if I just "reinstalled", it won't work (same messages about a
problem).

What might also be helpful, hcidump shows that apparently the device
stops sending new data with bluetooth as soon as I tap with three
fingers. I only get a single output when tapping, after that it stops
until evtest stops printing, too.

the generic version of that kernel (from the ppa) and a recompiled
version with lowlatency params (which is right now the main kernel i am
using in 14.04)
The issue exists in the latest 3.13 kernel as well i.e. 3.13
