Hi, I was getting a similar error in VirtualBox. It was crashing Virtualbox
itself.
But disabling 3D acceleration in Virtualbox settings solved the problem for me.
Indeed enabling 3D acceleration was causing many applications to crash, not
just firefox

I have the same issues as descibed above with brand new Intel
KWandi, you should use the xorg.conf below to switch to VESA driver to
get decent resolution (but it won't be 1280x800). Apparently, the
patched sis driver works for some chips, but not others (which is why I
suggested it should not be installed by default...).

Stability of Intel 7260ac mini wifi card
llvmpipe is the expected 3D driver. There is no 3D hardware acceleration
for SiS GPU's on Linux (and there probably never will be unless someone
wants to reverse engineer it).
As for resolution issues, see if forcing vesa driver helps (you may be
falling back on fbdev driver).

Experienced same issue with a Gigabyte 5.1 mother board (2013 vintage),
moving the audio jack to another output solved the problem, not other
changes were made to the system. OS used Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Trusty. In
this case it is definitely due to incorrectly sensing the audio output
jack being used.
I can confirm 24 hours of goodness after installing backports 3.13.2-1
on top of 14.04 . Something in there fixes the problem.

driver, I can only access other VTs, but not my X session. When I
switch to the proprietary driver, I also lose access to other VTs after
resume as well. Plugging in another monitor works as long as the

I think I'm also encountering this problem. I did a dist upgrade from 13.10 to
14.04, and now when I try to open my gnucash data file it crashes. I see the
splash screen with the various loading plugin opening data file messages,
it then shows me the dialog with scheduled transactions that

I can confirm comment #29. I'm on Trusty with a german keyboard layout
(qwertz). After login all is ok. But sometime later the layout suddenly
switches to some englisch layout (qwerty). The indicator still is
showing german. Manual switching to US and then back to DE restores the
german layout.
I upgraded Xubuntu from 12.04 LTS to 14.04 LTS and I removed
xscreensaver based on the post-upgrade recommendation.
However, what I found was that the screen blanked while parole was

it seemed better.
Today I have been trying the trusty 3.15rc2 kernel and it seems much
more stable but will keep using it for a few days before casting
The issue also occurs here on a computer equipped with Ubuntu Trusty Tahr 64
bit and Windows 7 32 bit. I can test by only printing as pdf.
That will also give blank output.
