The man page is wrong. Even in the old days this was incorrect; you
just wanted the passno to be different for different filesystems on the
same disk so they would not be checked at the same time and slow each
other down. Ubuntu uses mountall these days, which treats all non zero
values equally;

and I do not think this is a kernel issue, more like you automatically

On my mako running #69.
I opened a bunch of apps including dialer-app.
After some time unity crashed (see bug 1326513)
I am left with a few apps still running, including dialer-app which is
consuming a lot of resources:-
