I tried doing that but even though pulseaudio set this cards profile to off it
did not recover. Even a reboot after using pavucontrol did not work.
According to my saviour at university pulse recognizes the switching from one
sound card to the other but it can't handle the switch internally.
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Since the package referred to in this bug is in universe or
multiverse, it is community maintained. If you are able, I suggest
coordinating with upstream and posting a debdiff for this issue. When a
debdiff is

Not sure where to report this, but there are some odd Ubuntu issues
with many apps. I invoked Ubuntu-bug on octave since its the most
recent app I've tried that has this issue, but changed the package to I
don't know in the web bug-interface.

I tried your PPA on Precise and Trusty, and this bug (minimize, scale,
restore → blank window) still occurs.
