Being that I noticed users here said they "upgraded" to Trusty (as did
I), I decided to do a clean install to see if indeed the issue was
confined to upgraded systems.
Alas, the memory leak is as bad as ever on a clean install.

Not planning to backport to 14.04 LTS 3.13 kernel at the moment, but
there will be 14.04.2, which will use the Utopic kernel. By then, LTS
users can choose to upgrade to the Utopic kernel/X/Mesa, so LTS users
can also enjoy this driver.

I confirm this bug in the rpcbind package.
This is an issue specific to upgrades from precise; no fix is needed for
utopic. (A wrong fix is included via Debian; I have reopened Debian bug
#734903 with regards to this.)
