On a clean 14.04.1 I have successfully installed and run pitivi
0.93-3ubuntu0.1 from trusty-proposed. As regards whether the crash bug
is fixed, I refer to my previous test with the version from Timo's PPA
(comment #18). (Like Leo I have upgraded the 14.04 installation where
pitivi crashed to 14.10
I did another installation installing the intel driver from xorg-edgers
and your source for the kernel at the same time both and after reboot
Ubuntu display settings shows me only the screen from the laptop (Built
in screen).

No but brother printers consistently show problems - if you do a
bugzilla search you'll see quite a few hits and as far as I know we have

I'll add that xdg-screensaver is an unmitigated piece of crap. It
reimplements the bugs that using D-Bus for inhibition is supposed to fix
(namely that if the app disappears, the screensaver shouldn't be left
inhibited).

I had the same problem. Things worked fine after I installed alternate
proprietory driver (tested) for NVidia driver card instead of opensource
nouveu driver.
