Chasing this down a bit further:
It looks like this happens because SSH_AUTH_SOCK is not set in the
"Thunar --daemon" process that persists even when I close all Thunar
windows. I guess that process must get launched during xfce session
setup, before SSH_AUTH_SOCK makes it into the session environ
I agree that gpxviewer and creepy should be removed, but it is not
needed to remove osm-gps-map. The new version will automatically migrate
when the two packages mentioned are removed.

Yes this does involve systemd. The time was off by 4 hours everyday for
a while. I thought it was fixed in bug 1377698 too but I noticed that is
was good booting with upstart but only booting systemd it was 4 hours
behind.
