The reason is that clang uses /usr/bin/ld which is a link to /usr/bin/ld.bfd
instead of /usr/bin/ld.gold.
I fixed this by
cd ~
ln -s /usr/bin/ld.gold ~/bin/ld
clang++ -flto
Regarding this bug - Shouldn't
~/.local/share/sounds/ubuntu/{ringtones,notifications} also be sourced?
It would be useful to add new ringtones to the phone...

I (probably) fixed this by removing the extra space in front of with
in line 293. sudo apt-get -f install then worked without a flaw.

Got some more time to poke around the system. If did change the
ExecStart in /lib/systemd/system/systemd-udevd.service to:
ExecStart=/lib/systemd/systemd-udevd --debug
`journalctl -u systemd-udevd` now contains this:

It is not so easy and I never got any feedback that it was used.
There is no easy solution for the padding, the only way I can think of
is to format everything in a way that the width of the text never
changes. Digits are normally all the same width, so that means sticking
to one unit per shown
