Does this also happen if you boot with upstart? (You can choose that
from the grub boot menu under "Advanced options").
Please also boot without "quiet splash $vt_handoff" -- does your
computer boot then? If so, it's a graphics/plymouth problem, if not this
should show where it's hanging.

FYI, If you install with d-i instead of ubiquity, it does not run into
this problem since it runs the scripts in the correct order, so I don't
think it is appropriate to change partman-auto since that would change
the way d-i works, and it isn't broken.

This is still happening in Vivid.
Also if I have opened two maximizied windows of webbrowser (Slimjet in
my case) I sometimes get the title of the wrong webbrowser window

Using Vivid daily image (apr 14) for ppc64el, I tried to set the locale
to Brazil and got the message: "There is no locale defined for the
combination of language and country you have selected (ppc64el)"

In other words, the init.d scripts are supposed to be the first ones
run, so they can look at the state of the drive as it is when you first
boot the installer. Instead, ubiquity is running the visual.d scripts
first, so they decide to add an efi system partition, and then ubiquity
runs the init.d

I don't think you quite understand the problem Mathieu. Yes, partman-
efi's init.d script sees the partition as ext3 instead of fat32 because
it has not yet been formatted as fat. The problem is that the init.d
scripts are supposed to have been run long before partman-auto creates

xfdesktop exposes custom shortcuts in the context menu, for which there
are no shortcuts. Maybe xfdesktop can support custom actions with
shortcuts, but at the moment it does not.
Anyway, this bug does not belong to thunar, therefore moving this to
xfdesktop.
