I recently experienced the same problem after an update done a few days

I am running Xubuntu 14.04.2 LTS and I had the same issue.

Hi Martin,
The lid is always open (as you can't power up when the lid is closed,
the lid covers the power-button). No extra monitor is attached.
First of all, when the power-switch-rules are disabled, the machine
starts up normally (no hibernate) as well as the power-down sequence is
normal

Attaching debdiff for SRU proposal. The package is the same between
trusty and utopic, with the commits already part of the 0.17.1 release
in vivid. Please let me know if there's any additional information
necessary.
** Description changed:
$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
I think the merge request looks good. Once the dev release opens, it can
be uploaded.

Title:
gpg-agent environment variables not correctly
Public bug reported:
ufw-kde isn't placing the shield within settings menu. Am I doing
something wrong. Currently using the gnome version to setup firewall
but would love to have the qt version working.
Love the new plasma 5 desktop.
** Affects: ufw-kde (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
I've done some tests:
- it doesn't matter which port I plug in the mobile wifi - suspend will fail
- if the mobile wifi is turned off, suspend works fine (no suprise here)
- plugging in my usb stick, doesn't have a negative effect
- plugging in my external hard drive, doesn't have a negative
