I could think of adding an or similar tag to the AppStream
metadata. Probably something named differently, like
40 (the number being some "weight" in case we want
that, or have it just boolean instead? also, do we want to make this
desktop-specific?)

we are seing the same issue here, net-booting into a preseed based auto

Hi,
bug append also in Xubuntu 14.04.03.
It is a very annoying bug for people who install distros with a generic
password. Once the pc is delivered, the first thing to do is to change
the password and a lot of time the user make a "fatal" mistake…
Some informations i gathered for now :
I will look into this a bit further, but it looks like, for some reason,
your system is trying to depend on OpenSSL 1.0.0 libraries, instead of
OpenSSL 1.0.2 libraries. It is possible you have a broken system,
because other package upgrades in your apt history log appeared to fail
as well.
