After upgrading to 16.04 I'm getting this error for all my apt sources.
- This seems different to both #1524196 (since I don't get the "Couldn't
- create tempfiles for splitting up /var/lib/apt/lists/archive.ubuntu
- .com_ubuntu_dists_xenial-updates_InRelease" errors)
It's automatically run during an (upstream) build from the git
repository, which was on Jan 20. The mirror list is usually not updated
anymore then once it hits a stable Ubuntu release.
A better approach would be to ship a mirror list in the archive that APT
can fetch during an apt update.

I can confirm this bug. I just ran into it on a production machine. The

Roman Fiedler, it will help immensely if you filed a new report with the Ubuntu
repository kernel (not mainline/upstream) via a terminal:
