gcc-5 5.4.0-5ubuntu1~16.04 from ppa:ubuntu-toolchain-r/ppa does accept
vulcan as an -mcpu option, and it does pass the correct -march settings
down to the assembler:
$ gcc -v hello.c -o hello 2>&1 | grep ' as '
as -v -EL -mabi=lp64 -o /tmp/ccgyMnhl.o /tmp/cchw8EFH.s
$ gcc -mcpu=vulcan -v hello.c
Being a fellow pilgrim in the Way of the Penguin, I can confirm the
exact same facts as Mr. Pellegrino on clean install of Ubuntu Mate
16.04.
It appears that the swap partition is not actually encrypted at all.
Syslog shows that encryption failed, and "cryptsetup -v isLuks
/path/to/partition"

Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
