LXQt upstream handle soname changes very badly in the past (see
https://github.com/lxde/lxqt/issues/821). To adapt this, Debian choose
to introduce an abi package, a virtual package to work like a soname
package.

Managed to resolve this. As it was always linked to pop up menus it
seemed to be a graphics issue. My IT support was able to identfy that
this was the problem and change graphics card mode. Sorry can't tell you
any more as I was out of the room.

switched from the Unity desktop to XUbuntu. However, when I now go to 'System

Backlight brightness technically is nothing to do with Mir right now.
Although there's a good argument that we should make it Mir's
responsibility.
To see what kind of mess it is, install mir-utils and then: $ cat
/usr/bin/mirbacklight
I believe alf copied that script when he re-implemented
Verified this on an x220 which has been heavily loaded with the stress-
ng matrix test - this kicks in the thermal controls and one sees just
the one BIOS locked message and thereafter no more spamming.
