Actually I think this bug might be tangential to the precision problem
in QtMir.
QtMir appears to maintain a little smooth scrolling to a precision of
roughly 0.067 mouse wheel ticks. But touchpads commonly have a precision
of more like 0.00025 equivalent mouse wheel ticks.
So both problems are
well this needs to be fixed and its not ubu specific. its DEBIAN
specific, above stretch. you hit this error when upgrading too.
I keep getting systemctl errors on boot because the module just isnt
there. neither for open-vm-tools nor fuse.

Yes, 'click to focus' is disabled. While verifying that setting in
CompizConfig Manager I found the 'Focus Desktop' toggle and disabled it.
This disabled the desktop from grabbing focus when traversing it with
the mouse and fixed the problem.

I just attempted to login graphically on VTY7 as usual (where I get Unity not
starting) and then I swicthed to VTY2, logged in, export DISPLAY=:0 and ran

Hi Seth, for 16.04 "apt install" works on local *.deb files, invoking
dpkg ion the process. I have previously installed dozens of packages
from debs via dpkg -i, and from what I've seen there's no difference
between that and apt install on 16.04. I also confirmed that 4.7 was
installed via uname
I'd suggest bumping this up.. It's definitely the kded5 [kdeinit5] process, and
it's written 36 GB of those messages in just the time it's taken me to create
an account and log this comment, and eventually kded dies, taking title bars
and borders with it. Hardly usable.
This install is i386
I set the 'snap' package back to Confirmed because it does package a
file named '/usr/share/man/man1/snap.1.gz' and thus ought to Breaks: or
Conflicts: against all other packages that package a file with the same
name but different contents.

I too am having the Unity not starting problem.
It was working this morning but then I applied the latest updates and now it's
broken.
I'm using Ubuntu Desktop 16.04 on VirtualBox 5.1.2 on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.
I've tried:
- downgrading VirtualBox to version 5.0.26
