I guess that is a Simple Scan problem - afaik Simple Scan is not able to
use network scanners; at least I can't use network scanners with it, and
can't recall that it was possible with earlier versions. Have you tried
xsane? If scanimage -L finds the network scanner, xsane should work too.

Can you see if the bug still happens when booting a Trusty kernel on the
Xenial system? This can be down by downloading the kernel from:

You will need to install both the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb

Public bug reported:
Initially I was going to report this against a completely working 16.04
VM using spice. In that case the system, once rebooted after the upgrade
failed to show launcher at all and no desktop applications could be
moved. This is new behavior in 16.04.1. All these things worked
Tested in an up-to-date xenial:
Installed snapcraft, snapcraft-examples, snapcraft-parser
Enabled -proposed
Updated the three packages to 2.13.1.
✔ Build a snap with 2 stage packages that install the same pc file.
✔ Build, install and run a snap with a daemon and restart condition never.
✔ Parse
I built the next test kernel, up to the following commit:

The test kernel can be downloaded from:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~jsalisbury/lp1571798
Can you test that kernel and report back if it has the bug or not? I
will build the next test kernel based on
