Hi, Dann,
First of all, I think the bug title is misleading, as this issue happens on all
kernels we tested (4.4.0-45..66, 4.8.0-x, 4.10.0-x etc).
To be fair, we haven't this exact bug (or at least I don't think we did)
in practice, i.e. without running stress-ng, 4.4.0-x never ever crashed.

Hi, I've put test glibc packages in the ubuntu-security-proposed ppa
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-security-
proposed/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+packages that revert the fix for
CVE-2015-5180. If someone could test that the udeb's from there don't
break your pxe install that would be great.
Quite likely
I'm not quite sure what happened here but I suspect a local
configuration error given that the DuplicateSignature contains the
following:
Preparing to unpack .../python-pil_3.1.2-0ubuntu1.1_i386.deb ...
File "/usr/bin/pyclean", line 63
except (IOError, OSError), e:
This error would come abo
I put quotes around both, that must be what broke it. Then I tried to
fix it using live CD to re-edit but I couldn't make it stick as the live
CD couldn't update the bin. Mint always warns me of syntax errors so if
this did as well I missed it.
I'll try it again. I might just switch back to Tiger
I’m not sure how a fix for bug #1674749 would address the use case in
the description: a multi-window application (such as web browser) wants
to distinguish between:
- please close all windows one by one without retaining state for them
- please quit the app, and save the state for all windows
Firmware changes did not help, but the following doubled my speed from
20mbps to 40mbps (still 50% lower than what I got in Windows 7):
vi /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf
Change line to
wifi.powersave = 2
echo "options iwlwifi 11n_disable=8" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/
