I also got the error after upgrading from 14.04 to 16.04 I solved it touching the file /etc/xdg/akonadi/mysql-global.conf. So it seems the file is getting cached somewhere I think the bug should be reopened and investigated further. Maybe it is necessary to flush the cache where the file is
