Same issue with OpenVPN. As a workaround, once the VPN is connected, I
edit /etc/resolv.conf and add my DNS (nameserver 8.8.8.8).
It makes DNS resolution work again. But if I disconnect and reconnect
the VPN resolv.conf is indeed reseted.

So aside from the Ubuntu package being outdated (The codebase has indeed
changed massively.) the patch we need to get screen working properly is
way more intrusive then originally thought and there might even be the
case that we have to do some additional lower-level plumbing in the
kernel or
I have run into this problem as well. The "inactive" in "Turn screen off
when inactive for" is a bit misleading: it's not directly about the user
being inactive.
For example: Playing an HTML5-YouTube Video in Firefox will delay the turning
off of the screen until the video is finished playing.
Forgot to mention, this was observed with the 16.04.1 and .2 desktop
amd64 isos.

On zesty, 17.04, if I have a VM console window open and wish to use the
send-key menu option the menu drop down does not even appear. None of
the options: file, virtual-machine, view, send-key appear to work. I
click on them and no menu below will show up.

I tried installing that york0 version of Python 3.6 first, but when it
didn't work, I removed it and reinstalled from
https://launchpad.net/~fkrull/+archive/ubuntu/deadsnakes.
Judging from the DpkgHistoryLog.txt, it seems like that york0 release
messed things up.
How do I go about fixing the
