Hi,
I was parsing through issues that had no update for too much time.
I think the issue this gets no further activity is that there is no reproducer
in a sense of "this is the way to reproduce" - it is confirmed which reflects
multiple people hitting it and likely to exist which is just right.
I’m really sorry about that, I thought the package was fixed to update
its configure during the build. I should have checked... I’ve upgraded
it to debhelper compatibility level 10 and fixed configure.in so that
autoreconf works correctly (which is better all round). Thanks for your
work on this!
The actual error is from cdargs:

Thank you for taking the time to report this crash and helping to make
this software better. This particular crash has already been reported
and is a duplicate of bug #1505409, so is being marked as such.
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1357880 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1357880
This was fixed upstream/Debian/Ubuntu via Bug #1357880 -- so I'm duping
this over there and adding tasks there for SRU'ing the fix back.
** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1357880
Thank you everyone for filing bug reports for this issue. Now that 12.04
has gone EOL without a resolution for this, is it possible to re-test
with 14.04 or 16.04 (or ideally 17.10 daily) to see if it still occurs?
This helps us track where it is occurring and decide if it has been
fixed upstream.

Hello Zachary, or anyone else affected,
Accepted vlan into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vlan/1.9-3ubuntu10.4
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.
Please help us by testing this new package. See
