I can't recall gnome-terminal changing anything hereabouts.
I'd still say that if you mix the two copy-pasting methods, it's pretty
much a coincidence if it works in some cases. I'm sure it still doesn't
work everywhere (if it worked everywhere, there would probably be only a
single copy-paste buf

This is a system that's gone through upgrades from at least xenial
through artful. I never manually enabled it, but it could have been

Guys, I erased the old Ubuntu (16.04) and installed Ubuntu 17.10. I am
currently setting up the environment, installing many things, and until
now there isnt any fan noise. I think they fixed the bug I will
report later again if the problem with the fan noise appears.

I found out, that networking there is only broken due to a bug in the apparmor
settings, you can fix this by
sudo apt install apparmour-utils

Ubuntu adds a patch called "0001-Add-style-classes-and-CSS-names-to-
some-of-our-widge.patch" to gnome-terminal, and in turn Ambiance and
Radiance themes' apps/gnome-terminal.css relies on this to get the
desired look for the notebook widget.

I can confirm that this bug affects Ubuntu 17.10 (which uses Xwayland).
Moreover, replacing the x_get_default(key) function by a “return NULL”
(from the “#ifndef NOT_X_WINDOWS” branch) allows putty to bring up its
setup dialogue. But clicking on open produces another SEGV, with the
following stack
