The highest the load average ever gets is 11.85, and it's usually around
3-4. This is a 20 thread system, so it doesn't look like CPU contention
is the problem.

Sorry, your right. These are mainline kernels, so there is no -extra
package.
So it sounds like the bug is due to a config change. I'll take a look
at the git logs and see if any changes stick out.
