system-rescue-cd was able to boot in EFI mode. Other ubuntu/debian based
usb sticks either could not be enumerated; or failed with the previously
mentioned error. Once I was able to boot up into EFI mode it was a
simple fix thanks to Panu.

ivrs tables are missing for me too but i do not get the cpu stuck error
anymore, also cpu powersave and acpi works on kernel 5.0 with bios v
1.13. I optionally remap the ivrs tables after linux installation just
to remove the warnings, however my laptop model is A315-41g not A315-41.

Yes qemu had too much cases in the past where it came to data corruption for
using the disk multiple times.
That has caused quite some pain (as you found in the old bugs) but turned out
to be much more reliable.
The different entry points use different options to eventually achieve the same

on kernel 5.01 with bios v 1.13 everything works out of the box even
touchpad and suspend!!! it is time to close this nusty bug once and for

A315-41 with BIOS 1.13 and kernel 5.0 has the same behaviour as before,
IOAPIC tables are missing the two entries. The CPU stuck problem still

Sorry, I had a typo on the second patch that applied to strrchr line
279. I put strrstr instead :(
Anyway, that patch actually works and doesn't break anything. I'm not
sure why the upstream doesn't have the line on 279. I'm attaching what

This was fixed upstream in 3.20 (with a rather nasty commit message),
but even on 3.28 it is not working in Ubuntu 18.04. A brief (5 minute)
examination of the code shows that it is there in the Ubuntu source
package. Someone that actually maintains this will know more of why it
is still broken.

This also affects me on a fresh Arch Linux install with the RX 580 8GB
GPU. I have found a temporary workaround to this issue until it is
finally solved. I used Budgie Settings to enable the execution of this
command each time it enters the environment:
xrandr --output HDMI-A-0 --mode 1920x1080 -r
