1. Reproduce the freeze at least once.
2. Reboot.
3. On the first working boot immediately after a freeze has occurred,

where it says "Terminal=false" change it to "Terminal=true" minus the
quotes of course. A "terminal window"(sort of) pops up behind the gdebi

I don't think this is nvidia-related. I have the same on Arch with Intel
