Installing plymouth-theme-spinner results in an unwanted purple screen
during start-up:
1. Black screen with Lenovo logo, no spinner.
2. Purple screen with no logos or spinners. <
3. Black screen with Lenovo logo and spinner.
4. Login screen.
WORKAROUND:
sudo upda

This only affects xenial (libvte2.91-0.42.5):
Steps to reproduce: (e.g.) use gnome-terminal on xenial to login to
a remote machine via SSH. The remote is an up-to-date server with ncurses6.
The bug is seen on a variety of programs using ncurses, due to VTE not being
100% xter

kris (ski007), I think that I may have spoken too soon. I've been
testing with the same "4.15.0-53-generic" kernel, and the issue seems
that hasn't been resolved. Workaround is still:
sudo modprobe -r sky2; sudo modprobe -i sky2
