Ah right, I guess something has changed. The first case (booting with
disk password) now acts closer to the second (booting without it),

Please clarify: You say the latest bluez update caused the problem:
Happens with the upgrade: bluez:amd64 (5.50-0ubuntu4 ->
5.50-0ubuntu5). Before that upgrade, everything was working fine.

microphones. If you want to use a microphone then yes it will switch to

The links in comment #12 aren't relevant sorry. And the log in comment
#11 shows Xwayland went away so that seems to be why gnome-shell gave
up. So I will move this bug to Xorg and next please run:
apport-collect 1865379
again.
