In order to fix this for Focal / 20.04.2 point release:
Groovy is a no-op, because:
1) it has no partman-crypto as stand-alone src pkg anymore.
2) its ubiquity (w/ bundled partman-crypto) doesn't need a
patch as there won't be new ISOs/Desktop install for it.

To fix the fallout: First, ensure you are running the latest kernel and
all your other packages are up-to-date; Then in "Software & Updates" >
"Additional Drivers" change to the Nouveau driver (which seemed to

requiring machine reset; no response from mouse or keyboard. No response
to ping from a windows machine. All drive activity stops. The hang

screen, touchscreen works. But after entering my password and log in to
the desktop, touchscreen stops working (no matter whether it's the

Now that the 20.04.1 HWE kernel has been changed to 5.8, I encountered
this bug with a normal "apt update" and I expect a lot of other people
will as well. I'd like to suggest that this bug be taken out of "Won't

Title:
After updating the nvidia drivers, the login screen stopped showing.
It helped to switch to the console ctrl + alt + f(1-9).
Completely removed everything related to nvidia drivers.
Reinstalled all drivers on a clean one.
