Hi Daniel, I upgraded to kernel version 5.15.25-051525-generic and I can say
things seem to be working.
Clam shell mode works.
Tested booting the laptop and then plugging in the HDMI and Hub. After closing
the lid it immediately switched to using the external monitor as default.

FWIW this is affecting me on jammy too. I'll have to take a look at
systemd sources. Adding:
lxc.init.cmd = /sbin/init systemd.unified_cgroup_hierarchy
to my config does not help, nor does bind mounting a /proc/filesystems
without 'cgroup' (v1) in it.

I can confirm the problem. This is a regression with the latest release
in jammy. The previous one was still OK. There were many FTBFS
releases before 3.5.2+ds-1 so I had a hard time confirming the last
working release in jammy. I gave up and reverted back to the one from
impish and the problem

The to912 script needs to be re-run after the audio sleeps. I have been running
it manually for two years. Yesterday, I wrote a script that runs automatically
after booting. It is much more convenient now. The script snippet:
