The change in the file /etc/init/failsafe.conf line pre-start exec sleep 120
on the pre-start exec sleep 12 reduced boot time as in the attached file
dmesg.

i think this is a kernel bug, because if i running my xubuntu with
previous kernel (2.6.28 from 9.04) the flickering goes away.
