I made a bootable USB stick with Ubuntu 10.04 Beta 2 iso image. It boots
and runs well without a problem on my Asus laptop in office, but doesn´t
want to boot on my Samsung R40 Plus at home.
At the same time I upgraded Ubuntu 9.10 on this same Samsung laptop to

Seems like there was no need in hurrying to report the bug. It probably
was gmail that caused the problem. It just started working again without
anything done to it. Just that never experianced it on the gmail side,
so reported a bug.
No problem now.

Everything was exactly as you wrote. The kernel was on menu.lst and instaling
grub-pc and grub2 did help.
It hangs during boot for some reason and I never got a chance to use it, but
this problem is solved. Thank you!

Indeed only 2.6.31-11-generic is shown during boot, having hand edited
the string to 2.6.32-16-generic started booting, but then hand with no-
modules message.
Does it have something to do with the GRUB > GRUB2 transition?
How do I get the new kernel string in GRUB menu ???

usplash together! As a result USPLASH starts first, then PLYMOUTH loads

Here are some of my gusses. Yet I'm not a technical person. Gparted
lists this partition as /dev/sda2 and in Grub it is HDD0,2. It is an
NTFS partition. Didn't resize it. Gets mounted in Nautilus without a
problem. What's the problem with it, then!?

Same problem as described by Ed. Jut that Grub gets stalled without

urgent tasks. Here are some of my gusses. Yet I'm not a technical person

I have also installed Hardy. And the problem seems to be gone for the
first couple of days. But it is the same really. Same thing! I use gksu
