I solved it actually. but sudo apt-get install -f wasn't the solution.
It seems while upgrading some mistake happened with my connection and it was
cut half way but installed the linux 3.5.0-25 kernel but with missing parts.
so i restarted and entered back into an older image of the kernel (3.5.0-

I solved this problem it seemed like nothing but what had happened with me
before this problem was that I had installed a package called
gtk2-engines-murrine after which the problem started.
but after I uninstalled that package restarted same thing.
