Okay, I tried Ubuntu's packaging of OpenSSH (version 1:5.8p1-7ubuntu1)
with your patch, and it powered through everything. Here is a list of
all the error messages I received:

The problem appears to be caused by snort connecting to mysql as root
and does not offer user intervention, failing instead.
