I can't attach a dmesg, due to the fact that my machine fails to

one dealing with Ubuntu _detecting_ my monitor (the nv) driver. If I

Any file that begins with a "." is a hidden folder. These are usually
for program's settings and data that most users don't want to see or
mess with. However, the previous comment does tell you how to
explicitly list them.

Thank you for reporting this bug, however that doesn't look like an
official Ubuntu package, so I'm not sure if this is a valid bug.
However, compiz is now in the official Ubuntu repositories, do you also
get problems installing it from there?
