Same experience on a Dell 7530. Laptop is essentially a brick with that
kernel. No USB for mouse, no keyboard, no wifi.

What I did was turn off desktop effects using compiz simple-ccsm.
Install simple-ccsm from synaptic and then its under preferences I
think.

I have this same problem. While a fix would be great, how can I disable
desktop effects if I am running the Nvidia driver? I cannot seem to
figure it out, and this would solve the issue until there is a proper
fix.
