Just tried 1.3.6 on a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
On first start, I get no GUI or anything, but the me-tv process is
running in the background somewhere. I have to kill it manually.

I had this problem on an install of Ubuntu Natty and so far the only
thing I can confirm with repeatability is that 3D works when the S-video
output is 'detected' and doesn't work when it isn't.
If I boot into Windows XP (dual boot) and enable the TV-Out
I installed Oneric on a separate hard drive in this machine and have
tested it a few times, so far without any issue.
So far, S-Video is always detected (although that's even when it's not
plugged in) and 3D always works.
I'm not going to say that this problem has definitely been fixed in
Oneric,

This isn't a problem with the stroke width.
For me, there is a major discrepancy between the Rectangle and Selection
tool measurements
For example, I created a rectangle, and the size was supposed to be
108mm x 40mm with an 0.01mm stroke width.
However when selecting it with the selection tool,
I find it quite interesting that for me it:
Crashes on my Radeon 9600XT with the radeon driver,
But works fine on my Radeon 5770 with the proprietary FGLRX driver from AMD.
I don't know what the difference is, why this happens etc.

I have noticed a strange problem with the new GRUB eg: version 1.96 used

I tried "single" without "quiet" and "splash" but all I get is the
recovery menu. If I choose "Resume normal boot" It just locks up at the
cursor before the login screen again.
I did however manage to get it to lockup in the console by choosing
"shell prompt with networking"

No worries about the apport confusion. I figured it out pretty quickly.
It's a PCI slot card (not hot swappable) and due to the lockup I can't
post debug info with it attached.
But I will try what you say to show the console messages and take a

I did apply the latest updates but that was with the card removed.
I can't even load the shell with networking support from the recovery
menu with the card attached, it also causes a lockup.
