If you enabled 2-step verification on your Google's account try to create an
application specific password and use that when requested by Evolution Calendar
and Gnome.
I was experiencing the exact same problem.

Installing ati proprietary driver (using additional drivers tool) fixed the
problem.
I still see debian's theme at startup but that's easy to handle.
Gnome 3 doesn't work as it should but that's a known bug and we are waiting for
it to be fixed.

login stalls at check for battery
Same problem here... started yesterday after an upgrade...
Startup hangs on checking battery status, I can press alt+f1 and switch to
another terminal but I cannot log in (login incorrect error).
Selecting recovery mode (from grub) and resuming the normal boot leads
correctly to lightdm, but

I assembled my pc by myself.
Main spec:
- MOTHERBOARD Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD7 (

When I go into the raid bios both disks are shown as part of the raid set, I
have windows 7 installed on that set and it works well.
Both disks were formatted and used for the first time on this controller.
When I use linux it changes something (I don't know what...) and the bios shows
me two
