I wound up taking the nuclear option and did a reinstall from an
intrepid livecd - that seemed to solve the problem. However dist-upgrade
is messy I guess is the point.

No Sound on Dell Inspiron 1525n after upgrading to Intrepid 8.10
I've tried a lot of things and looked around for solutions and *nothing*
seems to work. I have the results of alsa-info.sh up now.

are all loaded and
I've tried everything but removing pulseaudio and replacing it with
ESD(which I think is likely the problem at this point), which seems to
be what the forums recommend by and large. Is there a way to move this
bug to the pulse-audio package maybe?

Just upgraded to 8.10 and my sound doesn't come on. It seems like all my
modules are loaded, the volume changes, when I go to Preferences Sound
and test every sound configuration (PulseAudio, Alsa, OSS, ESD,
Whatever) it is making no sound, only there is no obvious software
