Me and my wife share a netbook (Ubuntu 10.10), and are usually both
logged in and just switch user. Everything works great until the first
logged in user logs out. The netbook including the second user is then
disconnected from the wireless network, and since the second user
doesn't see any

My work around is to open an new window and then closing it (ctrl+n,
ctrl+w). After that auto completion starts working again in my original

the 9.10 beta ordinary desktop version (i386), but never got the
language support to work effortless.

Problem:
I can produce a locked screen where the mouse is unusable.
Use case:
User A is logged in.
User activates Switch user in the indicator applet.
User B logs in.
User B logs out.
This produces the same screen as Lock screen
My wireless broke too when I updated again this morning - one hour ago
(was working fine with yesterdays updates). I'll try the fix when I get
home from work.

Fabus, try running dmesg | grep drm in a terminal window and see if you have
lines like:

No improvement for me. 3 of 3 reboots the same since I apt-get dist-
upgrade to get the new kernel that was held back. (And no, I never
added the patch from #32).

The updated packages solved the problem for me (i386 version).

I take back what I wrote in #23. It seems I was fooled by the big
variations in how long time the messages are shown (estimate 0.1-1.5
second).
Anyway, I have a fresh install which should mean grub2.

With the latest package upgrades I no longer see the above messages on the

It would appear that the fix in #13 has been deployed, as I can find them on
one of the ttys (shift+alt+f?).

I have the same problem on my Acer Aspire One (9 netbook). It has a
screen resolution of 1024x600. And the game window is higher than 600
px. I have tried the game in both Ubuntu 9.04 and 9.10-beta.
The work around is using alt-click to move the window up and down as
needed.

IMO this is a usability problem. The user should not have to google or
read all documentation to avoid getting error messages from menu items
in the default applications.
The suggestions above about assisting the user in different ways to
install the required packages are good.

I got this on the new beta on a clean reinstall on my Acer Aspire One
110L. First the message about grub loading. screen clears, then this
message reported in the bug above, showing for 1-2 seconds, and then the
Ubuntu logo shows up.

I have made a clean install of the 9.10 beta on my Acer Aspire One 110L,
and I also get similar messages. They flash for 0.5 to 1 second, but in
combination with https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/413419 that also
flashed me, this is a bit too much overall blinking.

More info: it seems that some times hibernate hangs, i.e. the computer
screen is blanked but not turned off and the wlan led still blinks, even
after 20 minutes. And sometimes hibernate turns off the computer after a
reasonable hibernation time, but waking up reboots the computer instead.

Thanks for the info, you can close the bug.
And disabling hibernation in this case would resolve the problem for me.
I don't need hibernation, but I want all menu items to work (or be
disabled).
