I have a similar issue with the nouveau drivers. I have an XPS M1710 and
the built-in display is detected properly, but the secondary monitor is
not. (The Nvidia binary driver detects it properly). dmesg output is
similar, but the invalid edid is even more suspicious looking:
Here is the correct EDID Info for my monitor as detected by the
proprietary nvidia driver, hopefully this is useful.

Samsung Propel a766 here. Same issue. neither of those scripts, nor the
entry in /etc/modules were able to stop the -5 errors.

I have the same issue, but its not related to storage at all, my usb
wireless keyboard reciever and IR Remote Reciever both stop working
after rebooting, making the task of turning off my media center
completely not worth it. this is right up there among the most annoying
bugs I've ever been

This bug has been bothering be ever since edgy and is still present in
the Gutsy installer. the Forward/Back/Next buttons in the main
installer window require you to move your mouse cursor outside of the
button and then back inside before they will accept a click event.

I have the same problem. My gnome System menu only has a Quit
option, and it drops me directly to gdm. from gdm I have all of the
usual options. I have beryl installed but its not running. I use the
