Just experienced this myself, on my recently reinstalled Ubuntu 13.10
amd64 system. When I then tried the Dropbox package from the Dropbox
website, of verison 1.6.0, I'm getting exact python-gpgme error on

Looking into bug #713511 I tried rebuilding psimedia 1.0.3-4 in a fresh
natty pbuilder chroot. Both for amd64 and i386 the build failed here.
g++ -c -pipe -g -O2 -Wall -W -D_REENTRANT -fPIC -DQT_NO_DEBUG -DQT_PLUGIN
-DQT_GUI_LIB -DQT_CORE_LIB -
Note that this isn't a problem with psi 0.14-2 and psimedia 1.0.3-4
under Maverick. Seems like some kind of binary incompatibility issue.

I can confirm this error. I assume your backup is being run as a non-
root user?
It would appear as if rdiff-backup is trying to read/list directories
before applying the --exclude rules.

Well, in any case I can confirm and reproduce this issue as of git
1:1.7.4.1-1 by either
a) Have an Ubuntu 10.10 system with both emacs and git installed, and then
upgrade to Ubuntu 11.04
b) Have an Ubuntu 11.04 system where git and emacs is installed at the same
time. It doesn't matter whatever

Are you only calling rsync with the -a (and -r) option, or are calling
any other options as well, such as --files-from perhaps?
What version of rsync are you running by the way? Please provide the
output of "apt-cache policy rsync".

Hmm, seems like I wasn't really thinking properly, and accidentally did
